The new face at Rucksack Cellars

We would like to introduce you to the newest member of the Rucksack Family, Douglas Giorgis. We’ve known Douglas and his family for quite some time, having met years ago up near Quincy at a Dude Ranch. With the time horseback riding and beers (and wine) in the ranch’s saloon, we quickly found out that Douglas had a real interest in wine.

Jump forward several years, and the Giorgis Family (Mary, Flynn and Luca) have moved up from San Francisco into the thriving metropolis of Pleasant Valley. And the beginnings of their dreams of making wine have come true with the planting of 6 acres of grapes (Fiano, Cabernet Franc, Barbera and some other variety).

Come on out to Rucksack on August 24th between 5pm and 8pm. Bring your classic car and receive a 2 for 1 tasting discount and mingle with fellow car enthusiasts. We will have a few beauties for you to check out as well. We will be featuring; our 2022 Chenin Blanc, our 2022 Barbera Rose, and our 2021 Moscato, because after all…these are sizzlin’ August evenings and those are perfect wines to enjoy when the temperatures rise! Join us for our 2023 Flower Class Series. Fun, artistic evenings make for a great way to spend date night, girls night our, time with friends. Join Melissa Cowan from Flowers on Main, as she leads you through the do’s and don’ts of creating beautiful flower arrangements. Sip on a glass of wine while you enjoy the lovely evenings at Rucksack Cellars.

Farmers Market Bouquets – August 23 @ 6:00

Enjoy a class based on the beautiful flowers currently available from the Farmers Market and learn how to utilize them. For this class, flowers will be sourced from both Treasures at the Barn and Frog Hollow Farm, both local growers in the Placerville area. Mel loves sourcing from Teresa Brewster (Treasures of the Barn) and Beverly Glass (Frog Hollow Farm) both new flower growers who grew up, are now raising their families, and starting their business here in Placerville. Mel loves to support small local growers!

Classes cost $65/person and include all supplies, flowers, instruction and a glass of wine. Click here for tickets!

June Community Nights are Back!

June Community NIghts are back. Each Thursday from 6-8, grab a friend and a picnic and enjoy the evening at Rucksack. $10/person, $5/Rucksack Club Member. We will have wines by the glass, wines by the bottle for sale and of course of small bites baskets. If you would like to reserve a table, please call Madrona Vineyards at 530-644-5948. You are also welcome to bring your own chairs.

Open House 2023

We invite you to join us for our Annula Open House at Rucksack cellars! We will be listening to the tunes of Patrick Walsh, serving up pork sliders with sweet potato fries, and of course, serving up great Rucksack Cellars wines!

Tickets are available ahead of time in our store for $25/public and $20 for Madrona and Rucksack Cellars wine club members. Tickets are also available at the door!

This Saturday, May 27th from noon to 4!

Season Opening May 6, 2023

Just putting it out there… we will be opening Rucksack Cellars on May 6th from 12-5! After opening weekend, we will be open Thursday to Sunday until mid-December. Stay tuned for Open House, Community Nights, Flower Classes, and new this year…a cribbage tournament and a corn hole tournament! We look forward to seeing you!
