Our Wines

OPening 082616 17Rucksack features wines that exhibit the depth and diversity of the Sierra Foothill Appellation.  While our sister winery, Madroña Vineyards, produces 100% estate wines, Rucksack will be scouring the Sierra Foothills for unique examples of fruit expression.

2016 Chardonnay – $24 – Coming May 2017

Rich and luscious, this Chardonnay is a blend of multiple clones grown in El Dorado County. The wine showcases exceptional tropical pineapple notes and a terroir-driven citrus fruit finish.

2013 Marsanne/Rousanne – $24 –Full fact sheet

This is a wonderfully textured wine expressing the cool-climate pear and melon characters of Marsanne marrying with the more tropical notes of Roussanne.

2015 Barbera Rose – $24 – Full fact sheet

The Barbera Rosé is fresh, vibrant and positively racy. Filled with high-tone raspberry and plum fruit, it’s perfect on a warm summer day.

2014 Barbera – $24

This complex, mountain-grown expression of Barbera is a beautiful blend of Californian and Italian styles. The dark cherry essence intertwines nicely with the raspberry brightness of the variety.

2013 The Cache – $24

Our high-elevation, structured Bordeaux blend has the elegance and complexity we expect from these low-yield vineyards. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot all play a role in this authentic Sierra Foothills wine.

2013 Seco – $24

With nearly equal amounts of Tinta Cão, Alvarelhão and Touriga Nacional, this Portuguese varietal blend has a seductively rich texture with dark brooding berry fruit. It’s amazing with spicy foods!
